NIT City

Yesterday was pretty frustrating for me on the tables.  I was cruising along and up a couple of buyins before losing a huge pot when I flopped a set of tens against AA on an all diamond board.

I’ll spare you the hand history on that one.  I can’t complain about getting my money in as a 2:1 favorite.

Everything kind of snowballed after that and when I finally gave up, I was dead even on the day.

The games are so dry right now.  I’ll datamine 16 tables at a time on FT and maybe only 4 will have 2 fish or more.  The rest are filled with rakeback nits and TAGs.   Since I’m trying to improve my game, I don’t mind sitting with TAGs at these micro levels.  They are pretty good pre-flop, but for the most terrible post flop.  I have been trying to stay out of the pre-flop wars with them and outplay them post flop.

When you play against TAGs, you gotta mix it up a bit.  Raising pre-flop, throwing out a c-bet, then check folding the turn will get you into trouble with a semi-thinking player, so you have to throw a changeup every now and again to keep them honest:

I think I’ll change things up a bit this evening.  I’m not sure how much time I’ll have for poker as I have several real life chores that need done.  However, when I do sit down, I think I’ll play in a tourney or 2 and then keep 2 ring games open at the same time.
